A tribute to our active and fallen Greek Heroes

This page is being created to pay tribute to the unsung heroes who tirelessly promote Greek culture, perform acts of heroism, and go above and beyond the call of duty, whether on or off the line of duty.

“Hence, we will not say that Greeks fight like heroes, but that heroes fight like Greeks.”

Winston Churchill

Firefighters - GREECE, August 2023

Our first two heroes have distinguished themselves with the ultimate sacrifice of giving their lives to keep the world safe from fires and natural disasters. Pilots Periklis Stefanidis, 27 years old, and Christos Moulas,34 years old (Περικλής Στεφανίδης, Χρήστος Μουλάς) without hesitation willingly placed themselves behind the controls of the Canadair firefighting plane, knowing the danger of the mission. Their honor, courage, commitment, and heroism are their legacy while executing their firefighting techniques in extinguishing the fires in the July 2023, fire crisis of Greece.

Flying the long stretch of fires without a stop, break, or second thought, they kept the fires in control. Their acts correspond to preserving life, nature, and our heritage for the beauty of the Greek land, air, and ocean. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten. Heroes do not die; it is our honor to remember them and promote their bravery to the coming generations installing in them the understanding that Greece is worth fighting for during all crises, all events, natural or man-made. Their execution of fire extinguishing was absolutely remarkable, depicting courage, strength, and commitment.

Unfortunately, their maneuvers required them to be within 30 meters of the burning ground. The evasive maneuvers through the smoke caused the wing tip of the plane to collide with a tree branch causing the seaplane's pontoons to dislodge, creating this disaster. The plane crashed, causing the immediate death of our heroes.

We can only express these words to our heroes; "You stand relieved, we have the watch now".

We honor them by never forgetting them, by reminding all of us, that it takes the heroic acts of such men, to make this Greece succeed.
